Mr Henry Budd is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon and Clinical Lead for Spinal Services at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He has been an Expert Witness for over 6 years and prides himself in forensic approach to medico-legal practice. He has Bond Solon qualifications including a CUBs Bond Solon Certificate from Cardiff University. He is instructed by both Claimants and Defendants on personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Mr Budd’s appointment availability is 4-6 weeks and has a report turnaround time of 8-12 weeks.

Clinical Experience

Mr Budd is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre, Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, a regional tertiary referral hub for spinal surgery. He qualified with overall honours from the University of Birmingham in 2004 and completed Higher Surgical Training in Cambridge. He completed the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Eng) in 2013 and specialised in spinal surgery. Fellowships were completed at The Ipswich Hospital Spinal Unit, the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and Schoen Klinik Harlachling (Munich) with visitations to Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and CMCR de Massues, Lyon.

Mr Budd has a special interest in adult degenerative spinal pathology including adult deformity surgery, injuries affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine in addition to cauda equina syndrome. 

He is the Devon Integrated Care System Lead for Spinal Services, Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery in Exeter, a trust appraiser and MHPS (Maintaining High Professional Standards) investigator to the Trust. He has previously been the Clinical Governance Lead for Spinal Surgery at the Trust.
