Mr Kim is currently appointed as a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at The University Hospital of North Durham. He is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University. His specialist interests are in all aspects of plastic, hand and cosmetic surgery, in particular; melanoma, skin cancer, surgical oncology and cosmetic surgery; breast, trunk contouring and facial rejuvenation.  

Mr Kim qualified in medicine from Edinburgh University in 1997 and completed the Higher Specialist Plastic Surgery Programme on the Cambridge University rotation, obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCSPlast) in 2012. During his surgical training, he completed his PhD at one of the world’s leading cancer institutes: The Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, University College London. Jong also had the opportunity to explore his interest in psychology, completing his MSc. (Psych) degree.  

Mr Kim was awarded the lawyer monthly Expert Witness Award 2019 and 2020 winner by nominations in plastic, hand and cosmetic surgery and won the Young Scientist Award for Translational Research by the European Association of Cancer Research.
